前までは、夏の間は秋の気配をまだかまだかと待ち望んでいて、秋になると、そのきゅっと締まった冷たい空気がやってくるのを喜んだものだった。
去年からそうだけど、ひたすら夏が苦手だった僕が、ちょっと好きになって、夏が終わるのが惜しまれるようになったんだ。今年もそう。今でも、天気が良い朝は、会社行く途中の人気のない海沿いのデッキのベンチで、半裸になって日光を浴びながら朝ごはん食べたりしてね。もうさすがに半裸は寒いから無理になってきたけど。
といっても秋や冬のことがイヤになったんじゃなくて、変わらず好き。夏を好きになったから待ち望む必要がなくなっただけなんだね。
日曜日に、大家さんのとこ行って、おうちの契約をしてきた。大家さんはでっぷりしたおじいさん。足が悪いの。なんだか歴史を感じる人。地元に深く根を張ったようなね。我が道をよくしってて我が道を行ってる人のようだ。奥さんが、かなり、イケてるおばさん。低いがらがら声で、だんなのことを「ダーリン」と呼ぶ。チャキチャキしてるんだけど、お茶のせんせーをしてるとかで、間のとりかた・活かし方をよく心得た気さくさの持ち主だ。すっかり持て成されてしまった。だんなの「細かいことは知らん」というところを当然のように受け持ってるんだ。
僕は彼らのことをよく見た。彼らも、どちらも、よく人を見てる。僕らのこともじっくり見ただろう。家賃は手渡し。そのたびに、ちょっとずつ見てもらおう。

So basically there is a fork in the road- where a person can take one path that says the universe is not eternal and needs a creator that it itself does not need to be created because the rules dont apply to it-or you can take the path that says that the universe is eternal and does not need a creator. The problem with this fork in the road is that it is completly dark outside and there are no lights at all. No one can tell which is the right way, they can only guess.
